Saint Gaudens's sculpted world
Article Abstract:
Saint Gaudens designed his flower-bed garden to face the mountains of the upper Connecticut River Valley and its western breezes. After he died in 1907, landscape designer Ellen Shipman removed the flower beds and planted herbaceous borders to blend with the dark-green hedges.

Butterfly weed
Article Abstract:
Butterfly weed is a member of the milk weed species. It is hardiest in growing zones three to nine. It requires substantial sun and effective drainage. Its terra-cottage orange, red and yellow blossoms look best when the plant can grow wild.
