Van Day Truex exemplified an abstemious style characterized by controlled, direct and understated design. His style is apparent in his artistic legacy to Parsons School of Design which he headed from 1942 to 1952, and in the housewares he designed for Tiffany and Co, which are still produced.

The National Manufactory of Sevres began to produce the most significant porcelain products in Europe during the latter half of eighteenth century. Its handmade and hand-decorated pieces are used in France's Elysee Palace, National Assembly, and French assemblies all over the world.
