Since the arrival of Columbus and other Europeans, 75% of the native plants of the Americas have disappeared. Seeds being dropped from catalogs today are often excellent home-garden varieties., The new surge in the seed industry is towards high-yield hybrids which do not produce from true seeds.

Article Abstract:
Directions are given for a new way of gardening. No digging is needed, instead newspapers, peat moss, grass clippings, dry leaves, compost, manure, wood ash, and seaweed are layered and wetted at proper intervals. Seeds are put in the top layer and the gardening continues along the usual lines.
