DOC moves to change duty levels

The U.S. Department of Commerce, (DOC) has proposed to impose high level "all-China" duties, on Chinese suppliers on the ground that China is dumping wood bedroom furniture in the U.S. market. The government is considering the change due to the large number of respondents in the anti dumping investigation.

The anticipation of an anti dumping law, with respect to investigation of wood bedroom furniture imports from China has evoked varied response from inside as well as outside the furniture industry. Daniel Ikenson, a Cato policy analyst feels that the ruling may hamper legitimate competition.
