Kinkade name enjoys strong retail presence
Article Abstract:
A total of $100 million worth of Thomas Kinkade furniture and related products were sold in 1997, through Thomas Kinkade Stores, Thomas Kinkade Signature Galleries and gift stores. A licensing agreement with Kincaid Furniture and La-Z-Boy does not stipulate distribution of furniture through traditional Thomas Kinkade channels. These channels include catalogs, the QVC cable television network channel, an estimated 3,000 gift and collectible retailers, 21 licensed Thomas Kinkade Signature Galleries, 18 Thomas Kinkade Stores owned by Media Arts Group, and an 11,000-member collector's club.
