Palliser strengthens presence in hot categories
Article Abstract:
Palliser has determined its strategic objective to be the foremost producer of household furniture in Canada and among the top three in the US. The company has a narrow product focus, with emphasis on master and youth bedroom, home office, entertainment centers and wall units and stationary and leather motion upholstery. Palliser's decision to leave the casual dining, fabric upholstery and bedding market was prompted by its desire to be the best in what it does. Art DeFehr, Palliser president, said the key to the company's fast growth is running a body that is responsible to all that is involved.

Business healthy for Canadian producers

The furniture and bedding industry in Canada posted a record 14% increase in 1997 total shipments to amount to C$2.83 billion against C$2.48 billion in 1996.
