Leased departments offer furniture stores a way into business
Article Abstract:
Heir-Loomed Oriental Rug Galleries, a company owned by Royden Maloumian, have been selling its high-end, hand-made rugs by leasing spaces in a number of upper-end furniture stores. Maloumian claimed the setup helps furniture stores avoid the risk of investing large sums in rug inventories while giving them opportunities to earn profits without a major dollar investment. Heir-Loomed Oriental Rug operates concessions at Plunkett's stores in Chicago, Charlotte's in El Paso, TX, and at Rob & Stucky stores in Orlando, FL, area and in Scottsdale, AZ, among others.
