New driections sales up 14.7% for year
Article Abstract:
New Directions said sales climbed 14.7% to $6.8 million for the fiscal year ended June 30. 1998. The publicly-held manufacturer, which focuses on oak case goods and occasionally on specialty items, showed a net loss of $58,534. New Directions said the net loss covered non-cash charges of $192,800 prior to taxes, that were charged as a result of a 1997 ownership change. Donald Metke, New Directions president, said the success of fiscal 1998 stemmed from strong retail sales, new clients, and the positioning of new products. Metke noted in the annual report how a big client, which represents 17% of sales, transferred to another manufacturer.
