Tatelmans ponder ideas for 5th store
Article Abstract:
Jordan's Furniture would open its fifth store to be located in Boston's North Shore area in 2000, more than doubling its volume and employees in less than three years. The fifth unit is faced with huge expectations, considering the success of the Natick, MA, store, which opened in April 1998. Co-owner Eliot Tatelman says that the plan for the proposed store is yet to be finalized, but should also have opened interiors as the Natick store to be more inviting to customers. The facility will require around 300,000 sq ft, with 200,000 sq ft allocated for warehouse use.

El Dorado Furniture is renovating and expanding its Miami, FL, store on Palmetto Boulevard, adding around 40,000 sq ft of space to the 60,000-sq-ft outlet. The expansion project is expected to be completed by the end of 1998, according to Pedro Capo, vice president of the firm. The renovation will see a redesign of the leather gallery to create more emphasis on the category. The expanded store will continue with the boulevard theme and will have a cafeteria that will serve Cuban cuisine.
