Changes in society have made it easier for women to enter into the business world of housewares. Some women executives give their views on this issue. Adding women to the industry has lead to more talented individuals. The woman executive can bring her perspective because she is the largest consumer for these goods. Large corporations offer more opportunities for advancement for women.

Women executives discuss the absence of women in high level retail positions. Both divisional merchandise manager and general merchandise manager are difficult positions for women to step into. Some factors why women are finding it difficult is due the store's philosophy and the need for women to have goals.
