Changes in the structure and prediction of earnings in Chinese state enterprises during the economic reform
Article Abstract:
China is undertaking an ambitious economic reform programme in its state enterprises in order to integrate them with industries in the rest of the world. However, China's traditional wages systems which reward employees depending on their age and length of service are conflicting with new payment practices that pays more to people with formal qualifications and who hold responsible positions. Research shows that between 1985 and 1990 there was some movement towards the reform model.
