Helping foreign nationals adapt to the U.S
Article Abstract:
Helping foreign nationals who are assigned to the US is one of the responsibilities of the HR manager. In helping these transplanted employees and their families, HR managers should provide customized services because different nationalities have a diverse range of needs. One of the common problems when an employee is relocated to the US is the working spouse. As a solution, spouses may be given a new job in the company, provided with money for education and higher training, or be allowed to stay in their homeland and given funds. The children of the foreign employee are another issue. HR should make sure that they are enrolled in the appropriate school and grade level to enable them to adjust well to the educational system of the US. English lessons should also be provided to the spouses and the children. Classes on the home language and culture may also be offered to children who usually become out of touch with their native language and culture.
