Is empowerment really a new concept?

Article Abstract:

The real meaning of the concept of empowerment is investigated. It is suggested that this is a unique concept that cannot be equated directly with any other term, such as self-control or self-leadership. The restricted applicability of empowerment does not limit the value of clarifying the concept.

Externalization of employees: thinking about going somewhere else

Article Abstract:

Research into the repercussions of externalization of employment relations from the employee viewpoint is presented. It is suggested that it is in the firm's interest for employees to plan for their future beyond the immediate jurisdiction of the employer.
