Accountants risk adds up to opportunity or disaster

Article Abstract:

Accountants liability risk insurance has become a dangerous game in recent years, as interest rates have fallen to the point where margins are difficult to achieve. The competition in the field has grown dramatically in the past decade, with new insurers choosing to enter the game just as it has become more difficult. A number of large settlements in recent years has frightened some agencies, tightening the success ratio and moving some firms to consolidate their holdings.

Good news or bad, EMF suits continue; recent reports dismissing connections between electromagnetic fields and health claims are small comfort to defendants and their insurers

Article Abstract:

Public utility companies and their insurers have not been totally set at ease by the National Research Council's (NRC) finding that there was no positive correlation between electromagnetic fields (EMF) and disease. The NRC's finding is unlikely to stem the tide of lawsuits which have been directed at utilities, claiming that EMFs emanating from generators and transmission lines are responsible for plaintiffs' health problems.

Household appliances: the next EMF scare?

Article Abstract:

Household appliances, such as hair-dryers, electric blankets and vacuum cleaners, emit electromagnetic fields (EMF). Since EMF may cause biological effects in humans, household appliances may have higher risk exposure. The potential risk of EMF liabilities will impact general liability, workers' compensation and product liability insurance.
