Coping with trauma in the workplace
Article Abstract:
Crisis situations in the workplace endanger individual as well as organizational health and productivity. The cost of trauma at work partly appears in high turnovers particularly in health care, retail banking, retail sales and emergency services institutions. However, an active response to the crisis by managers can turn a crisis situation into one of positive change. One way of dealing with traumatic events would be through a Crisis Response Team which would identify those affected, determine communications procedures, identify individuals most at risk, clarify issues and offer help to affected families.

Disability risk management in the private sector
Article Abstract:
Employee disability generates much of the financial costs in employee benefit planning. Since disability affects employee benefits and reduces company productivity, comprehensive and integrated disability risk management programs must be prepared by human resources and benefits managers. Such programs should promote a continuum of prevention, intervention and return-to-work services to be successful in application.
