Small group, big impact

Article Abstract:

Harvard Law School graduate Jason Adkins founded the Center for Insurance Research in 1991 to oppose the mutual holding company movement nationwide. Among Adkins' high-profile campaigns are the one waged against State Mutual Life Assurance Co of America to stop it from converting to stock ownership and another that involved Massachusetts Insurance Commissioner Linda Ruthardt regarding the merger of New England Mutual Life Insurance and Metropolitan Life Insurance. Adkins has since left the Center to start a new firm that will concentrate on class-action suits against insurers.
