Melvyn I. Weiss, Robert K. Scott and Ron Parry are all involved in insurance market conduct lawsuits. These lawyers support disclosure of commissions to help end abuses in the marketing of insurance. In most cases, their clients are referred by other lawyers or unhappy insurance agents. Weiss was the lead litigant in class action suits against Prudential Insurance Company of America, New York Life Insurance and others. Scott has sued Cigna Corp and Parry has sued Metropolitan Life Insurance Co, New York Life and others.

Personality tests are being used by many companies as alternatives to the personal interview, but many employees are rightfully shying away from the supposed objectivity it conceives. Many questions are of an ethical nature, attempting to determine whether a candidate is suitable for a job's demands, whether he or she is honest and forthright, or whether he or she can get along with people. Many employees attempt to guess the 'correct' answer rather than giving an honest one.

Despite economic and political barriers to globalization, insurers such as AXA, ING Groep NV and Fortis are establishing strongholds in developed and developing markets.
