What U.S. legislators can learn from other countries' health care programs
Article Abstract:
It may be an indisputable fact that the US is spending more than any other country on its health care programs. However, Americans as a whole are not satisfied with the system considering that 31 million to 37 million are not covered by any plan. There is a growing move in Congress to adopt successful systems such as those implemented by Canada, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and the UK. Those countries provide health care at a much lower cost and the level of satisfaction of citizens is higher.

Controversial civil rights legislation becomes law
Article Abstract:
The Civil Rights Act of 1991 was established as a law on Nov 21, 1991. The Act superceded previous 1989 Supreme Court decisions which placed employees at a disadvantage in filing anti-discrimination lawsuits against their employers. The new law provides ceilings for damages in proven intentional discrimination cases against women, religious minorities and handicapped persons. The caps range from $50,000 for employers with less than 100 employees to $300,000 for those with more than 500 workers.

U.S. health care - more competition or more regulation
Article Abstract:
The issue on whether US health care systems should be regulated is being debated among the branches of government. Republicans and Democrats have discussed the issues of rising health care costs, lack of access to health care and the quality of health care. Some of them advocate a play-or-pay or a single payer Canadian-style health care system. The issue on whether governmental intervention is needed for the distribution of health care will be debated even after the 1992 elections.
