Accessing economic and social rights under neoliberalism: Gender and rights in Chile
Article Abstract:
Neoliberalism and its reform programmes have led to massive restructuring of economies and Chile is an ideal case study since it is considered as the neoliberal success story, which provides a model welfare provision across Latin America. Neoliberalism has presented new challenges in relation to governments' ability to guarantee citizens' rights and how access to rights such as social security and health can be made more difficult for some women and men as a consequence of reforms is analyzed.

Neoliberalism, necessitarianism and alternatives in Latin America: there is no alternative (TINA)?
Article Abstract:
Exploration of the issue in relation to neoliberalism, necessitarianism and alternatives in Latin America is done. The 2001-02 virtual collapse of the economy of Argentina and the recent victory of Workers Party candidate, Lula, in Brazil highlight, in different ways, the need for a viable alternative democratic economic strategy for Latin America is mentioned.
