Dependency, the state and class in the neoliberal transition of Taiwan
Article Abstract:
This article provides an analysis of Taiwan's transition to a open market economy. The author argues that Taiwan shifted to market-oriented strategy based upon several reasons: trade dependency on the USA, an effort to include more interest groups in economic expansion, and the privatization plans which are influenced by the governments attempts to control public sector enterprises, even when the become private.

Assessing state failure: implications for theory and policy
Article Abstract:
Details about a study are given that focuses on the strengths and the weaknesses of contending methodologies and evaluation procedures as well as the causes, manifestation and processes of state failure. It also involves three levels of analysis, relative performance measures and an appreciation of dynamic processes of conflict.
