Charismatic political authority and populaist economics in post-revolutionary Iran
Article Abstract:
This article analyzes the economic policy of Iran since the revolution in 1979, focusing on the populist economics that emerged as a result of charismatic political authority and its implications. Issues addressed include the redistribution of income, the establishment of governmental organizations, the overvaluation of currency, budget deficit and inflationary pressure.

The power structure of the Islamic republic of Iran: Transition from populism to clientelism, and militarization of the government
Article Abstract:
Iran has two non-class power structures-- populism and clientelism, populism being a product of revolution and clientelism being linked to the traditional Shiism. The failure of the reformist government elected in 1997 leads to the transition of the Iranian society towards pragmatism and utilitarianism or clientelism, while the government leans towards militarism.
