Aid as an encounter at the interface: the complexity of the global fight against poverty
Article Abstract:
Four issues related to poverty, namely the complexity of local participation of third world societies, the power biases in the aid chain, the potential problem of "false consciousness," and the ambiguities of the role of local development brokers, are discussed. The anti-poverty policy needs "interface experts" who through provocation can beget "participation".

Spectres of the third world: global modernity and the end of three worlds
Article Abstract:
The three worlds configuration was a product of Eurocentric mappings of the world to deal with postcolonial situation that emerged after the World War II. The problems attendant upon the situation of the idea of three worlds are discussed.
