Algeria unhinged: what next? Who cares? Who Leads?
Article Abstract:
The cancellation of national elections in 1992 has brought the Algerian crisis to an unhinged political standstill in five years. The ongoing civil war between Islamic Salvation Front and militant Armed Islamic Group has come out into the open and developed disturbing proportions. Although Europe and the US are concerned about the crisis, alliance politics has forced them to exercise restraint. While the economic and political conditions have improved since 1995 presidential elections, a common Euro-Atlantic effort will help to consolidate these conditions.

France and the United States: Waiting for regime change
Article Abstract:

Terms of estrangement: French-American relations in perspective
Article Abstract:

However, with the Cold War over, the daunting legacies of September 11 2001, and the uncertainties surrounding European institutions, the US-France ambivalence should be adjusted.
