Does conflict beget conflict? explaining recurring civil war
Article Abstract:
Attempts were made to explain why some countries experience civil wars while other do not. It argues that renewed war is likely to have less to do with the attributes of a pervious war, than with current incentives individual citizens have to rejoin a rebel group.

The logic and structure of enduring rivalry (ER) framework is applied to civil wars, and it is empirically demonstrated that Enduring internal rivalry (EIR) are different from other wars.
