Asia's insecurity
Article Abstract:
A new geopolitics is being formed in Asia, and given the risks and uncertainties, straight-line predictions about its strategic future are insufficient. A more realistic approach is required and planners must consider less positive, but credible, alternatives. Three security aims, limited self-sufficiency, regional cooperation and security links to the US, could provide both a planning framework and a set of funding priorities.

Congress and the making of US foreign policy
Article Abstract:
Congress has obstructed the conduct of foreign relations, although tension between the Executive and Congress about foreign policy is not new. The two branches of government need to develop US policy through power sharing and resolving their tensions, so that a sustainable and effective foreign policy can be built.
