Hedging against the cruise-missile threat
Article Abstract:
The apparently slow response of federal government and its allies to the threat of land-attack cruise missiles may be bringing both down a dangerous course. Defense planners have grown increasingly concerned about the fact that land attack cruise missiles may eventually eclipse ballistic missiles as a primary means for making US access to regional conflicts increasingly problematic. The cruise-missile threat is evaluated.

Securing nuclear obsolescence
Article Abstract:
Nuclear weapons are not necessary for any perceived military action in the event of a US national security challenge, since the increasingly capable conventional weapons of the US are as effective as nuclear weapons in war. The US should modify its position on possession of nuclear weapons and promote their irrelevance so as to strengthen world opinion against their use.

The rise and fall of arms control
Article Abstract:
Political imperative assuaged the anxiety of the nuclear competition, as arms control did not control the utilization of weapons during the Cold War. For managing the decline of Soviet power, arms-control treaties proved very essential at the end of the Cold War but it seemed to be cumbersome, slow and ill-adapted to new security threats.
