Islamic militancy in East Africa
Article Abstract:
The relative political significance of domestic and transnational Islamic militancy in three East African countries, namely Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, with a focus on the significance of Al-Qaeda and its regional affiliates is studied. Regional Islamic outfits in these countries work towards improving the supposedly low political and economic status of Muslims even though most Islamic groups seek discussion and negotiation.

Twilight of impunity for Africa's presidential criminals
Article Abstract:
The fate of six former African tyrants, Charles Taylor, Mengistu Haile, Mariam Hissene Habre, Idi Amin, Mobutu Sese Seko, and Jean-Bedel Bokassa accused of crimes against humanity is tracked. The examination on the politics that determined their fate found that despite changes in international law and opinion since the cold war, impunity still prevails.

The African 'Oil Rush' and US national security
Article Abstract:
The world's major oil-consuming nations, led by the USA, China and the Western European countries, which are keenly interested in the development of African oil reserves is described. It is observed that the 'oil rush' has enormous implications both for African oil producers and for the major oil-importing countries.
