Patents and medicines: the relationship between TRIPS and the human right to health

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates the Agreement on Trade-Related Apects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and the impact it has on the human right to health. The author, maintaing TRIPs addresses changing patent laws to ensure developing countries with serious epidemics can acquire the proper drugs, argues the relationship between human rights and intellecutal property can be improved upon even further in international law.

The new South Africa's foreign policy: Principles and practice

Article Abstract:

The principles, those are the foundation for African National Congress's (ANC) foreign policy and the success of their implementation are discussed. Some of the principles that are implemented include pursuit of human rights, respect for international law, support for peace and disarmament and universality.

A focus is brought to India's negotiation strategies in the regimes of trade and nuclear non-proliferation. It identifies the conditions under which India's negotiating strategies might change from its traditional nay-saying to a more proactive and easier engagement with the developed world.
