Precarious production: globalisation and artisan labour in the Third World

An overview of recent literature and studies of Third World artisans in the context of economic globalisation is presented. The research conducted in various countries like Central America, Asia and Africa demonstrates that globalisation has intensified the precarious existence of artisan communities.

Understanding inclusive peace agreements in Africa: the problems of sharing power

The problems created by peace agreements leading to power-sharing in multi-ethnic African nations are discussed. Topics include obstacles to achieving successful power-sharing and the need to create better incentives for entering into and maintaining power-sharing agreements.
