Sources and limits of Chinese 'soft power'
Article Abstract:
China's 'soft' sources of power, including culture, political ideology and diplomacy, are increasingly recognized as essential components of Great Power status. While China's soft power resources are considerable, Beijing faces serious constraints in translating these resources into desired foreign-policy outcomes, as three major factors hinder its efforts to project its soft power effectively, imbalance in resources, legitimacy concerns of its diplomacy, and a lack of a coherent agenda.
