The evolution of international law: Colonial and postcolonial realities

Article Abstract:

A history of the evolution of international law focusing on the manner in which imperialism shaped the discipline is described. It is argued that colonialism is central to the formation of international law that has always had a civilizing mission, the project of governing and transforming non-European peoples and that the current war on terror is an extension of this project.

The strategy of oil companies in war-torn Sudan was examined and inferred that undue political pressure was responsible for leading to the ouster of these companies from Sudan.
