Electronic tagging of offenders: trials in England
Article Abstract:
The electronic monitoring of prisoners outside prison began in England in 1994 has been generally successful. Introduced initially to the County of Norfolk, the City of Manchester, and the Borough of Reading, the combination of curfew and "tagging" has permitted the early release of prisoners up to the last 2 months of their sentences. This program has grown and will soon be adopted by Scotland.
