An axiology for national health insurance
Article Abstract:
National health insurance is compatible with fundamental American values. These values include freedom, equality, happiness and fairness. Recent proposals include a Heritage Foundation plan to shift funding from employers to households, an American Medical Association plan to expand Medicaid and employer coverage and a plan from Physicians for a National Health Plan to federal insurance with the elimination of employer coverage.

Mistakes and fraud in medical research
Article Abstract:
The worst examples of misconduct by scientists should be considered as fraud in research. Ethical principles for research have been increasingly disregarded and this trend needs to be reversed. The difference between mistakes and conscious fraud brings in practical questions of interpretation, but the violation of proper research procedure is a violation of the unwritten rules for keeping the integrity of research.

The moral standing of animals in medical research
Article Abstract:
The analysis of the ethics of animal research has only begun and is now at a place comparable to the 1970s debate on human research ethics. Issues include legal standing, human properties, a cognitivist model, critical cognitive properties and the moral difference between human and animal cognition. Cognitivist criteria have moral problems and concepts using persons and autonomy are deficient.
