Approximate optimality of aboriginal property rights
Article Abstract:
Property rights in aboriginal societies vary both with the type of property and with the use of land resources. Families have private property rights with some food resources while group rights apply to other kinds of food. If it is economically more profitable to exploit a food resource in common, then it will have a group right such as often occurs with fishing or hunting. Agricultural societies tend to have private rights for cropland, whereas societies without agriculture are less likely to have private lands.

Property rights, genetic resources, and biotechnological change
Article Abstract:
Biotechnology could lead to the improved conservation of wild lands by the expansion of property rights to genetic resources found in nature. Patents for genetic engineering do not affect wild resources and so such losses as tropical rainforest deforestation continue. If third world countries sell genetic collection rights to companies then a new economic incentive to conserve rather than destroy natural lands will prevail.

The Voting Rights Act, district elections, and the success of black candidates in municipal elections
Article Abstract:
The authors examine the efficacy of the belief that district elections rather than at-large elections aid the election of African American and other minority candidates for city council. Results indicate minority candidates are more successful in at-large elections, contrary to minorities' perception.
