Changes at Lloyd's include end of unlimited liability; personal liability of individual 'names' is no longer required, and old mass tort claims have been diverted to a new entity
Article Abstract:
Lloyd's of London has a long history in the insurance market, but the 1990s have meant unprecedented changes for the company. While Lloyd's underwriting activity was, at one time, backed with the unlimited personal liability of its "names" on Jan 1, 1994, so-called corporate names were permitted. This shift in underwriting towards corporate names, with limited liability but backed by much more capital, increases the future stability of the London insurance market . The outstanding liabilities on asbestos, pollution and health hazards are the only negative.

The beef of the brief isn't found in the fat
Article Abstract:
Lawyers writing appellate briefs must remember they are writing for the judge who will read the brief and their top priority is to establish their credibility. This can best be done with a logical, to-the-point argument and citations validating the argument without misstating the law. Briefs which are lean and on point are more likely to hold the judge's attention than lengthy ones. In summary, lawyers should remember that their motive for writing the brief is to persuade the judge to accept their conclusion.

Lawyers and the lynching; recently found list names alleged leaders in Leo Frank killing
Article Abstract:
The possible identity of those guilty of the 1915 Georgia lynching death of Leo Frank is discussed. Frank stood accused of rape and murder more because of his Jewishness than his possible guilt. The list, disclosed by Georgia historian Stephen J. Goldfarb, included some leading members of the Georgia bar.
