Windows and LANs: they are compatible
Article Abstract:
Microsoft Windows has many advantages, but management can be challenging for a law firm with a large local area network (LAN). Problems include different workstation hardware, integration with the network operating system, and older IBM 286 personal computers that are ill-equipped to run Windows. One option is modifying or designing a LAN which can deal with both DOS and Windows architectures. This is done by making the main software systems share the same file structures. There are a number of application software packages which can function in both environments.

Lawyers: computer illiterates? Keyboard skills
Article Abstract:
Older attorneys tend to lack computer literacy, which is a shame since computers can make law practice more efficient. Reasons for this illiteracy include the tendency of attorneys to lack good keyboard skills, not wanting to take the time to learn DOS, program sequences and commands, and the fact that legal reasoning differs from the linear, logical thought process of a computer program.
