The divorce settlement case of Lorna Wendt, the wealthy corporate ex-wife, demonstrates the need for new law recognizing a marriage as a business investment. Unless previously agreed, wives should obtain half the profits of a husband's career if their initial contribuition is half the tuition money.If the prospective husband does not like this equitable partnership, he should persuade his fiancee to sign away her claims.

Article Abstract:
The New Jersey Supreme Court has allowed a legal malpractice suit by a divorcee alleging that her former attorney gave her bad advice which led to her acceptance of an unfair divorce settlement. The court rejected the attorney's claim that he was only liable if proven to have committed fraud.
