Fertility and coercion
Article Abstract:
Panic over the potential harm of a population explosion is often used to justify coercive population control tactics, but economic and social development may offer alternatives that respect reproductive rights and do not offend notions of justice. A goal-rights approach to population policy suggests that individual rights to have children should not be compromised without compelling evidence. Research suggests that improving women's educational and employment opportunities reduces fertility rates more effectively than do laws limiting the ability to have children.

The Defense of Marriage Act and the overextension of congressional authority
Article Abstract:
The Defense of Marriage Act is deeply flawed attempt to ban same-sex marriage. Congress is not constitutional empowered to rescind the Full Faith and Credit Clause in this manner. Historical tradition and accepted preemption doctrine dictate that states' domestic relations laws cannot be shunted aside by the federal government or Congress.
