Gene therapy and patents
Article Abstract:
The ingenuity involved in gene therapy's research and development process may deserve patent protection, and the US Patent and Trademark Office has issued hundreds of patents relevant to gene therapy. Patent attorneys interested in representing clients in the biological arts must stay knowledgeable about the science involved and the technology which develops. Somatic cell gene therapy is the likeliest source of new patent applications.
