Hiding the ball
Article Abstract:
The use of the socratic method and law professors' apparent attempts at "hiding the ball" from students results paradoxically in students' ontological and epistemological confidence that the law is fixed and knowable, that the "ball" exists. The socratic method does train students to internalize this contradiction by promoting outward confidence regarding the authority of the law while avoiding fundamental questions regarding the core of the law. The ontological structure of US law can be characterized as a system designed to favor technical, normative or epistemological solutions over ontological inquiry.

Smart buildings
Article Abstract:
It is estimated that UK companies lose 1.35 billion pounds sterling in productivity due to unsuitable working conditions. 'Smart' or purpose designed offices can minimise these losses and save money. The energy savings can be considerable, and office space can be used more flexibly. Employees are healthier due to better air quality and facilities. Efficient fire alarms and properly sited cabling also contribute to a safer working environment.
