Hitting the jackpot; after winning the big fee, what next?
Article Abstract:
Lawyers winning a windfall fee should engage in careful tax and investment planning. Incorporation might be a good tax planning step to take before receipt of the fee. The next step is short-term financial concerns such as paying off credit cards, setting aside some of the money for college costs and placing some in a money market fund. Selecting a good financial adviser to help with long-term investments and monitoring their performance is the final step towards sound financial planning.

The natural language way; WINning simplifies case law searches
Article Abstract:
Westlaw Is Natural (WIN) allows attorneys to conduct online searches using natural language. Experienced searchers can enhance their searches this way, while novices need not bother with trying to learn Boolean logic. Useful additional enhancements offered by WIN include displaying the 20 cases most relevant to a topic first rather than giving a chronological display. The initial WIN system applies only to case law but laws and regulations will soon be searchable as well.
