Epidemiology studies can resolve liability issues; the weight accorded scientific evidence turns on statistical clout and a clear presentation

Article Abstract:

In many cases concerning human health epidemiology is a crucial tool for unveiling truth, rather than anecdote, and isolating the cause or causes for a condition. Epidemiologists use cohort studies, which involve a comparison between exposed and unexposed groups and result in a standardized incidence or mortality ratio, and case-control studies, which compare a group with the disease to a similar group without it and which yeild an odds ratio. Results are interpreted through statistical tests, common sense, and other methods.
