Theories of regulation: incorporating the administrative process
Article Abstract:
Theories of regulation are incapable of explaining actual decisionmaking and outcomes because they exclude analyses of administrative processes. Critical examination of the four main theories of regulation results in the conclusion that the theories fail due to their exclusion of fundamental information regarding actual administrative law and practice. The abstract theories' ominous contentions regarding access of parties to regulators do not stand up to scrutiny when actual administrative practices are considered.

Democratic legitimacy and the administrative character of supranationalism: the example of the European Community
Article Abstract:
Supranational institutions are most likely to acquire democratic legitimacy when viewed from the perspective of administrative law. The European Community (EC) supplies the best example of the consequences of this conclusion. The delegation of power to supranational bodies has greatly altered the balance of power at the national level in the 20th century. The EC's inability to achieve democratic legitimacy is attributable to its difficulties in supervising its supranational technocrats.

Revoking your citizenship: minimizing the likelihood of administrative error
Article Abstract:
The author argues against giving the Immigration and Naturalization Service power to revoke the citizenship of naturalized citizens, because administrative agencies are subject to political pressures and objectives. If the INS is allowed this power, however, safeguards should be put in place to ensure that it makes objective decisions.
