Interpersonal violence and social order in prisons
Article Abstract:
Issues regarding interpersonal violence in prisons are discussed, and the loss of legitimacy often produced by the enhanced physical restrictions often imposed to decrease violence can also have an escalating effect. Aspects of prison social life key to the maintaining daily social order are also mentioned.

Gang violence in the postindustrial era
Article Abstract:
This article attributes the increase of gang violence to the nation's changing economic structure. Issues addressed include mass media's glorification of gang life, an increase in the number of prison gangs and female gangs, and drug culture's influence on the ghetto economy.
