Just a country lawyer; collegiality and Chivas Regal live on in New York state
Article Abstract:
The relaxed practice of a country lawyer is described. He had humble clients such as farmers and owners of mom-and-pop stores and justice courts were the judicial bodies before which he appeared. He worked at home but always took time out to 'smell the flowers.' His will directed that part of his estate go for a trust to the county bar association to provide one good bottle of whisky a year for parties.

Nonlawyers should not practice; nothing can substitute for the professional skills and values of a lawyer
Article Abstract:
The unlawful practice of law hurts the public and it is not protectionist to say so. The legal profession is diligent about pro bono work for the poor and roots out malpractice in its ranks while reimbursing its victims. There is no reason to go to an unauthorized legal practitioner for legal help.
