Keeper of the green: just as his father went after organized crime, Robert Kennedy Jr. is waging war on polluters ... and winning

Article Abstract:

Robert Kennedy Jr's attacks on polluters have made him a high-profile ecological lawyer who even his opponents acknowledge is committed and highly effective. The son of a former US attorney general, senator, and presidential candidate, Kennedy in some ways emulates the ferocity of his father's war on organized crime. Kennedy founded the Pace U Environmental Litigation Clinic and heads it with co-director Karl Coplan, as well as working with the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Hudson Riverkeeper group.

N.C. day-care operator convicted; defense blunders, independent therapists, credible witnesses aid prosecution

Article Abstract:

The jury in the Little Rascals day-care center trial on Apr 22, 1992, convicted owner Robert Fulton Kelly Jr. of 99 counts of child molestation and sentenced him to 12 consecutive life terms. Prosecutors in this case tried to learn from the McMartin Preschool case in California, which resulted in acquittals and mistrials. They dropped many charges, to cut down on the length of the trial, and had the children treated by different therapists from different cities to make sure testimony was consistent.
