The strike force was with him; Memphis professor says defense lawyer group saved him from criminal charges in King assassination probe, but prosecutors are scoffing
Article Abstract:
University of Memphis law professor Mike Roberts is sure his refusal to cooperate with prosecutors investigating the Martin Luther King assassination probe would have led to prosecution for a crime if the National Ass'n of Criminal Defense Lawyers's Lawyer Assistance Strike Force had not intervened. This strike force is the association's ad hoc panel of experts in right-to-counsel and attorney-privilege issues designed to defend association members victimized by prosecutorial bullying.

Yes: "Beyond a reasonable doubt." (The Kennedy Assassination: Was the Warren Commission Report Credible?)
Article Abstract:
The Warren Commission report held that there was no credible evidence of conspiracy in the Kennedy assassination and this was the right conclusion. The evidence collected by government agencies was verified by Warren Commission staff members and independent experts. The ballistics evidence showed no shots fired other than those from Lee Harvey Oswald's rifle. The evidence supports the Warren Commission conclusion beyond all reasonable doubt. The film 'JFK' is inaccurate.

No: "a pre-ordained conclusion." (The Kennedy Assassination: Was the Warren Commission Report Credible?)
Article Abstract:
The Warren Commission shaped the evidence to fit the conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald was the lone gunman in the Kennedy assassination. In the late 1970s, the House Select Committee on Assassinations felt there was a probable conspiracy but was unable to unearth evidence about its extent or the other gunman's identity. The Justice Department closed the case in 1988. The film 'JFK' seeks to reexamine unresolved issues in the case.
