Major study reveals widespread ignorance of DSE regulations
Article Abstract:
A report on the display screen equipment use in Great Britain reveals 50% of the country's employers are unaware of the 1992 regulations governing use of such equipment. Many employers had not made any workstation changes, performed risk assessments, or provided regular rest breaks or free eye exams. Employers should become more aware of the true risks from screen usage. Also, more regulatory guidance may be needed. Data on cost-benefits in this area remains sketchy.

Major fine for fatal construction shock
Article Abstract:
The UK's Kennedy Construction Group received a huge fine for its part in the death of a subcontractor by electrocution, a penalty which the Health and Safety Executive hopes will send a message to other potential safety violators. The death resulted because Kennedy managers failed to erect goal posts required to warn of possible danger from overhead power lines.
