Oliver J. Lissitzyn (1912-1994)
Article Abstract:
Legal scholar Oliver J. Lissitzyn was formerly holder of the Hamilton Fish Chair of International Law and Diplomacy at Columbia University. His major publications include 'International Court of Justice: Its Role in the Maintenance of International Peace and Security' (1951) and 'International Law Today and Tomorrow' (1965). Lissitzyn also participated in a Ford Foundation conference on International Law and the United Nations in 1955, lectured at the Hague Academy of International Law in 1968, and was a member of the Board of Editors for the American Journal of International Law.

In memoriam Philip B. Kurland
Article Abstract:
Law professor and lawyer Philip B. Kurland was distinguished both for his contributions to the law and for the joy and pleasure that he brought to all that knew him. He was an important part of the community at the University of Chicago Law School and was known nationally for his role as chief consultant to the Senate Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Separation of Powers during the Watergate era. He is remembered as being thoughtful, tolerant, and generous with his emotions.
