Article Abstract:
A relaxed regulatory atmosphere in Washington has allowed accounting firms to expand to all kinds of law practice, either by themselves or through affiliated firms. The large accounting firms have even gone beyond tax law and into into various other commercial services. The New Mexico Supreme Court denied Ohio's extradition request for parole violater Timothy Reed, upsetting decades of routine extradition procedures among states. The New Mexico court stated the defendant, who was an Indian rights activist in Ohio faced the threat of death or great bodily injury if returned to Ohio. Critics indicated the New Mexico court's conduct was disrespectful to the competency of the Ohio legal system and the US Supreme Court's well-developed extradition standards.
